New EMR

The visit note and the bill.
On one patient account.

One software to manage your practice and your billing service. The provider writes and signs the note, and the codes, orders and follow-ups reach the people who bill and schedule without anyone typing them in again.

How a visit flows

From the appointment to the claim

A separate EMR and billing system means two patient records, two logins and charges typed twice. In Expedite RCM the visit note, the appointment and the bill are all on the same patient account.

  • The provider sees the patient's balances beside the note
  • Diagnoses and orders written in the visit become the charges
  • A follow-up becomes a reminder for the front desk to book, with the right date
  • Unsigned notes and open orders wait in each provider's work list until they are done
  1. The patient is seen

The provider starts the note from the patient's account.

  2. The note is written

In the provider's own layout, typed or dictated, with pictures and drawings.

  3. The codes are checked

Suggest Codes proposes the codes and checks them against CCI edits and Medicare guidelines.

  4. The note is signed

Changes after signing are added on, and every version is kept.

  5. It is billed

The signed visit goes straight to the billing office, ready for the claim.

Writing the note

A note that works the way each provider does

Your own layout

Each provider's notes follow the way they like to write, by specialty. Start a new note from a past visit to save time.

Less typing

Common wording for the history, exam and plan is ready to drop in with a click, so providers spend their time on the patient.

Dictation

Dictate straight into the note, so the provider can talk through the visit instead of typing it.

Nothing left out

The note shows what is still left to fill in and takes you straight to it, so nothing is missed before signing.

Everything beside the note

The patient's history, orders, vitals and allergies sit right beside the note, so the provider never has to go looking.

Room to write

Give the note the whole screen while you write, and see exactly how it will print before you sign.

Pictures and drawings

Show it, not only write it

Add a photo or a drawing right into the note.

  • Take a picture with the computer's or the tablet's camera, or add a file
  • Draw on body diagrams and other backgrounds, or on a blank page
  • Crop, mark up and add a caption
  • Choose the size the picture takes in the note
  • Earlier drawings and photos of the patient are a click away
  • Choose which backgrounds each provider draws on, and import your own
Suggest Codes (AI)

Codes from the note, checked before they are billed

Suggest Codes reads the visit note and suggests the procedure and diagnosis codes. Before anything is billed, each code is checked against CCI edits, Medicare guidelines and your own billing rules.

  • CCI edits: codes that should not be billed together
  • Your own billing rules for the patient's insurance
  • Medicare guidelines: coverage for the diagnosis, how often a service can be billed, and the patient's age and sex
  • Codes already added, and codes the note does not yet support
  • A reminder when earlier Medicare wellness visits affect what can be billed
  • The provider picks what to add; nothing is added without them

Orders, signing and the work that follows

Orders

Order labs, procedures, referrals and follow-ups from the note. Save the orders a type of visit usually needs and add them all in two clicks.

Follow-ups are not forgotten

"Return in 3 months" becomes a reminder to book, dated from the visit, and every follow-up and referral not done yet is listed in one place.

Sign and print

Save a draft, sign it, and add to it later with every version kept. Print the note or save it as a PDF.

Vitals, allergies and history

Record vitals and allergies beside the note, from the practice's own allergy list, and see the patient's earlier visits as you write.

Tooth chart

For dental practices: chart conditions, existing work, planned work and completed work by tooth and surface, and turn the treatment into charges.

My Work

One place for everything waiting on a provider or a staff member: notes to sign, open orders, patients due back, messages and more, with what is late shown first.

Questions practices ask

Before you see the demo

Do we still need a separate billing system?

No. The EMR, billing, scheduling and denial management are one application on one patient account, with one login.

Can every provider keep their own note?

Yes. Each provider can write the way they prefer, and the practice can share what everyone uses.

Does the coder still see the codes?

Yes. Signed visits reach the billing office with their codes, where they are reviewed before the claim goes out.

Can we use it on a tablet?

Expedite RCM runs in the browser, so the provider can open the note from the exam room on any device that can reach it, and take pictures with the tablet's camera.
